The opening of the UK’s electricity markets creates opportunities and threats for both new and existing participants, and New Electricity Trading Arrangements (NETA) is at the heart of the new arrangements in England and Wales. Understanding how it works is fundamental to virtually everyone involved in the sector.
This course is designed to introduce the concepts underpinning NETA, the practical aspects of its operation and its governance, and the key aspects of trading, together with an analysis of what’s actually happened to date. We also look at current market development issues. The course aims:
- To explain why the Pool had to go, and the principles behind NETA.
- To develop a comprehensive framework for understanding all key aspects of the new market design and how it has operated to date.
- To identify drivers for change and likely further directions.
