Biomass Co-firing reaching a consensus
Meeting at RPA Offices, 30 Millbank, 9 December
The Government is considering a change to the biomass co-firing rules. There are a large number of stakeholders and almost as many views on the subject. These include:-
- Farmers
- Project developers wishing to bring forward dedicated biomass plant
- Generators wishing to co-fire biomass
- Developers and financiers of other renewable energy projects
- Renewable energy traders and brokers

The Renewable Power Association is convening a meeting to address this important issue. Peter Prior, Chairman of the RPA Policy Committee, will facilitate the event. The objective of the meeting will be to seek common ground and identify, if possible, a position that addresses all concerns.
The event will start with brief statements from each of the stakeholder groups, including;
- National Farmers Union (to be confirmed)
- PowerGen, Roy Westwood / Tony Nott, (confirmed)
- Energy Power Resources Limited, Malcolm Chilton, (confirmed)
- Smartest Energy, Alex Green, (confirmed)

Invitees will include DEFRA, DTI, farmers, project developers from across the range of renewable energy sectors, larger generators, trade associations and environmental groups.
The meeting will be held on 9th December, from 3:00 5:00 p.m. at the RPAs offices, 30 Millbank, London SW1P 4RD. Space will be limited to 60 participants so book early. There is no charge for attendance.
