New report blows away myths surrounding intermittent power generation |

| This new report form the UK Energy Research Centre, supported by The Carbon Trust, has greatly strengthened the argument that intermittent renewables such as wind are an effective form of low carbon power generation. |
| "Costs and Impacts of Intermittency" concluded that 100% backup for intermittent renewables is unnecessary, that the costs of backup add a negligible amount to the cost of electricity, and that the direct emissions savings of intermittent renewables greatly outweigh the extra output of fossil plant used as backup. |
