Electrical Aspects of Offshore Renewable Energy Systems seminar, 24-25 February 2004 |
|
Submitted: 1 December 2003 |
UK government policy is to provide 10% of electricity from renewable energy. The recent Energy White Paper outlines plans to achieve this target, and puts offshore wind in a dominant position. Both wave and tidal energy have a role to play in the more medium to long term in achieving future targets up to 2020. In addition there has been some activity in the development of prototype wave and tidal devices. |
This seminar will help to provide the research requirements to ensure the success of such systems. Its major objective is to discuss present and future developments in electrical technologies for offshore renewable energy projects such as wind, tidal current and wave energy. |
