Response from Solar group: MDP phase one - delivering jobs and investment in the growing UK PV industry
Submitted: 9 February 2004
According to the Energy Saving Trust, in the first 18 months of the MDP (ie May 2002 – January 2004), costs per kWp for small scale building integrated installations have fallen by 30%, the number of PV installers in the UK has risen from 7 to 35 different companies, larger PV installations are benefiting from economies of scale with prices per kWp on some MDP approved projects at 4,000 and falling. One project which failed to attract MDP funding came in at 3000 per kWp.

In addition, major investments in PV manufacturing by Romag/BP, Sharp UK and ICP Solar are being leveraged by the Programme.
