The latest NFPA on-line auction of green electricity from NFFO contracts was completed today,19 August 2004. The auction began on Tuesday 17 August and contracts were finally awarded to a total of 11 successful bidders. In all, 264 contracts representing some 738 MW of green electricity were successfully auctioned. The contracts are for electricity to be produced between 1 October 2004 and 31 March 2005. The average price, at 7.48p/kW, represents a striking increase over both the last auction, which returned an average of 6.02p (up 24%), and the previous winter period auction, held last August, which produced an average price of 6.81p (up 9.8%). Prices in this auction were above those in any previous auction.The next main power auction will be held in early February 2005.
The average price was 7.48p/kWh, up from the last auction average of 6.26p/kWh.
