Submitted:12May2006
In one of his first formal statements as Secretary of State for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra), David Miliband launched a call for a 'Contract for Climate Change' echoing the historical contract for social justice.
As well as emphasising the far-reaching consequences of climate change for all sectors of the economy the new Secretary of State also stressed that "a low carbon economy can be good for business, good for the environment, and good for all citizens". He called for urgent investment today to avoid greater costs in the future.
