Electricity generation in Cumbria

United Utilities is aware of the significant interest that generation developers have had in Cumbria over the years, and knows that some projects have been frustrated owing to the historical saturation of the system with generation and the significant reinforcement costs to overcome this.

United Utilities is pleased to announce that following the closure of BNFL�s Calder Hall power station and the subsequent reappraisal of system capacities in the region, there is clear scope for new generation development.
