Renewable Power Association Calls For Delivery on Energy Policy and Welcomes Energy Minister's NFFO Announcement
Submitted: 24 June 2005
Speaking at the conclusion of the Renewable Power Association's Annual Conference, Philip Wolfe, RPA Chief Executive said:

"The theme of today is that the gap between the Government's intention to develop our renewable energy sources and the policy measures that are needed is still too big. We don't need a new energy policy, we just need the Government to deliver the goals they have already announced."

Energy Minister Malcolm Wicks, speaking at the conference, announced that a decision has been made that the Non-Fossil Fuel Obligation (NFFO) contracts will remain eligible for the Renewables Obligation indefinitely.

The question over these renewable projects continuing eligibility for ROCs had been raised in a DTI consultation published in April. The RPA, its members, and the city, had been vociferous in its rejection of the proposal.

"We welcome Malcolm Wicks' announcement today and he has put the industry's mind at rest over this matter," said Philip Wolfe.
